Taken by an ANGST:84 company member,
from the Staten Island Ferry, August 2001.

The tragedies in New York City and Washington D.C. affect everyone in the world, in manners large and small.

Angst:84Dobama's Night Kitchen's participation in the FringeNYC 2001 was not only a very special opportunity to share ANGST:84 with a whole new audience, it was also, of course, a very exciting adventure. For many of our company members, this was their first trip to New York City, and an experience none of us will ever forget.

In addition to performing ANGST:84 six times, the company took this opportunity to see dozens of other Fringe shows and attend several workshops, meet theater artists from all over the country and all over the world -- and to get to know New York City a little. For ten brief days it was our workplace, our playground, and our home.

fringenycLike so many others who have fallen in love with New York and its people, we share in the pain and anguish of the events of September 11th. We were having so much fun, just the month before, and none of us had any idea what was about to happen. Our hearts go out to the victims, the survivors, their families and loved ones, and to our entire nation.

Please enjoy these pictures, artifacts of a peaceful time. They were taken by Elana Averbach, Harris Falk, Jessica Herzfeld, Leah Krauss & Caroline McGraw.

The Present Company Theatorium, ground central of the Fringe Festival and the site for ANGST:84
We arrived Thurs., Aug. 9 in 100+ degree heat and waited in the lobby for our turn to conduct our technical rehearsal.
Our first performance was the next evening, Fri., Aug. 10 at 7 PM.
Company member Leah celebrated her sixteenth birthday Sun., Aug. 12 at an Indian Restaurant.
With three days off (Wed. - Fri.) the entire company camped out in Central Park for free tickets to see "The Seagull" starring Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, et al. We arrived Wed., Aug. 15 at 6 PM to see the show Thursday night. We were not the first people in line.
We did get to walk around the city a little while others held our place in line.
Due to a Central Park curfew, at 1 AM the NYPD escorts the entire line out to Central Park West where they get to sleep on the cobblestones until 6 AM when they get let back into the park.
Back in the park.
Handing out the tickets. Ninth row. Aw yeah.
A trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Final night of performance, Sat., Aug. 18.
The chicks love Australians.
The Night Kitchen company - onstage, and outside the Theatorium.
Waiting for the vans to arrive, Sun., Aug. 19.
